chris powellMy name is Chris Powell. I am the CEO of Talmetrix, and I have a confession to make:

I worked in Human Resources for over 20 years, and I loved it.

I had a blast working on the front lines of HR. I had an amazing run at incredible companies such as Scripps Networks Interactive, ING (VOYA), Marriott and Deloitte. If you had told me two years ago that I would be the CEO of an HR tech startup, I would have told you that you were crazy.

After Scripps, I wanted to continue to grow. I knew that I could have taken another Chief HR job with another great organization, but in my heart, I knew that I wanted to build a company.

Since I began my career, I have spent countless hours working to help individuals and organizations leverage each others’ capabilities to achieve shared purpose and goals. This work has been rewarding and challenging as the workforce, workplace and marketplace continue to evolve. Given this changing dynamic, employee engagement is at the center of what creates competitive advantage and drives business value. I think that engagement is one of the most significant organizational concerns of our time, and I’m doing something about it.

That’s why I joined Talmetrix as the Chief Executive Officer this past January.

Talmetrix builds more engaged and connected workplaces and communities via cloud-based products and solutions. The business has a great foundation, which includes an award-winning product, great customers and an incredible team. It’s my job to take the company to the next level and shape the way the industry measures and leverages employee engagement.

On this blog, I will write about my vision for HR. I am passionate about the future of HR, too, which is why I will also write about the ways in which HR can leverage technology to take organizations to the next level.

I believe that the future of HR is centered on improving engagement, driving retention and enhancing the performance of an organization. Talmetrix is the right place for me to be, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
